Installation automatically deferring

I'm having an issue with the Show-InstallationWelcome step where the welcome window immediately disappears. The log file seems to indicate that the interface timed out and automatically deferred, and exited with code 1618:
[21-10-2013 16:23:50] [Pre-Installation] Installation not actioned within a reasonable amount of time.
[21-10-2013 16:23:50] [Pre-Installation] Installation not actioned within a reasonable amount of time.
[21-10-2013 16:23:50] [Pre-Installation] Setting deferral history...[DeferTimesRemaining = 2]
[21-10-2013 16:23:50] [Pre-Installation] <SoftwareInstall> Installation completed with exit code [1618].
Here's the call in the Deploy-Application.ps1 script:
Show-InstallationWelcome -CloseApps "<appname>" -AllowDeferCloseApps -DeferTimes 3 -CheckDiskSpace -PersistPrompt -NoWait
And just for giggles, in the XML file, InstallationUI_Timeout is set to the default value of 4140000.

I'm just getting started figuring out the toolkit, so I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong. Could you all point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance for the help! :)

Hmmmm, just did some testing using the above line (added iexplore as the process) and I'm not seeing the same issue. My log shows this:

Any strange locale settings perhaps? What version of Windows and PowerShell?

USA English, Windows 8.1, and PowerShell v4. I'm an early adopter. ;)

Strangely, as soon as I got to my desk and attempted it again the next day, it acted normally and prompted me with the option to defer or close. I've retried several times in the last couple of days, and I can't reproduce the issue either. To my knowledge, I haven't made any changes, but as I said before, I'm still trying to figure this toolkit out, so perhaps I made an adjustment somewhere without realizing it.

Thank you for the help!

I think I've seen something funny like this before but I couldn't reproduce it, so just to let you know I don't think you did anything wrong, there may well be a bug. Incidentally, were you using the PowerShell console or the Powershell ISE?

Glad to hear I'm not going crazy! I was using the ISE (v4).
